Brianna Johnson

Dr. Brianna Davis Johnson is a higher education scholar-practitioner with more than a decade of experience. She specializes in planning and leading strategic diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives; designing, implementing, and assessing DEI education and training; and helping local communities reach their DEI goals. Dr. Johnson’s research focuses on the processes through which DEI policies and practices are advanced within university organizational contexts, as well as whether and how the structure and culture of the organization relate to the implementation of DEI policies and practices. Given her professional experience and scholarly expertise, Dr. Johnson has detailed knowledge of common organizational barriers that often hinder diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and is passionate about helping organizations eliminate them. She volunteers with several community organizations and serves as chairperson of the New Albany Inclusion, Diversity, Equity Action (IDEA) Implementation Panel. She also speaks to organizations and communities about how their members can make their environments and work more inclusive.  Dr. Johnson holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.S. in Higher Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University, and a B.A. in Educational Studies and Urban Studies from Washington University in St. Louis.
